Cowboy (and Cowgirls) Code of Conduct
Great Friends and Awesome Times
These rules apply to everyone in the league (admin, host or member)
to create an environment where all can share in the joy of playing
canasta.
1. Your league name must match your SHG name. You must abide by
SHG guidelines in creating your name.
2. All tournaments will be ran as Fast Draw (name similar to fnf) every day.
In a single tournament, the first 4 registered players will play. In a
doubles tournament, the first 4 teams or 8 autos will play. In a do-si-do swiss, the
first 4 players registered will play. Special tournaments will start on time
and there will be no limit on the number of players (this includes reg/true swiss,
double elimination, etc.)
3. Lobby chat should not have any profanity, fighting, derogatory sayings,
or accusations of cheating toward any member or staff. The offending person will
be warned in lobby, screen shots will be taken by host and forwarded to admin
for review. Admin Team will determine punishment dependent upon severity of
issue.
4. 4. If anyone repeatedly leaves or intentionally disqualifies in a tournament
while they are losing, they will be subject to the following consequences:
3 days (1st offense), 7 days (2nd offense), 30 days (3rd offense), removed
from league (4th offense).
5. If you are caught cheating you will be disqualified from the game. You will
immediately be put in the box for a minimum of 3 days for an admin review. You
will no longer be allowed to play in doubles games for the remainder of the year.
The Admin team will determine the length of time you are boxed. You must send
proof of cheating to the admin team (screenshots).
6. You may not resign any games. You are subject to being boxed if you
ignore this rule.
7. No Slow play, games should be kept at a
consistent pace. Singles and doubles games should not last more than 60 mins.
Time is set at the end of posting of rounds, the only exception would be to
add the additional timer for a missing player. If the game is in the last hand
at the end of 60 minutes, it will be allowed to finish quickly. At the end of
60 minutes if the game is not finished (at least in final hand) the TD will
determines who wins either by high score or who was holding up the game. If the
TD determines that one player or team was deliberately holding up the game, they
will give the game win to the other team regardless of score. Hosting staff may
play in games while hosting. If there is a situation, hosting staff may have extra
time to complete game.
8. BRBs (Be Right Back) are allowed with a
3 minute time limit. No more than 3 BRBs per player will be allowed in any game.
If a player does not return after 3 minutes, call the td to the table for a timer
set on the missing player.
9. Posting Matches ~ First player / team makes
the tables. Once the table is selected, the table # is posted in the the lobby chat
area. Player(s) then go to that table to start play. If after 3 minutes, table is not
made by the first player / team the second player / team will then make the table and
post the table # in the lobby chat. Each player has the option to send a private
message as a courtsey to their opponent with thier table# although the only
requirement is to post the table # in lobby chat.
10. Singles Game Rules
- If a player is not in the lobby when a game begins or goes
MIA during the game the TD will set a timer and the
player has 10 minutes to arrive. If they do not arrive in 10 min they forfeit the game
and their opponent advances. If the player is missing at the beginning of the game the
10 minute timer will be set from the posted game start time in the lobby.
- When a player is booted from the table the TD will start the timer. When the player
returns the TD will stop the timer and announce how many minutes are gone. Each player
has a maximum of 10 minutes away from the game.
11. Doubles Game Rules
- If, at the beginning of the game, a player is MIA,
the TD will give that player 3 minutes to get back to the table before getting a sub. The
timer will be set from the posted game start time in the lobby. If a player sits in for
doubles at the beginning of the game for a MIA player after the 3-minute timer is up, the
player who is subbing for the MIA player will be allowed to finish that round unless they
want to their seat to the original MIA player.
- During the game if a player goes MIA a sub will be gotten right away. There will be NO
waiting period if the player goes MIA during the game. If the MIA player returns then the
sub will be required to stand and allow the original doubles player to sit and continue
with their game. When the player returns the TD will stop the timer and announce how many
minutes have been used.
- If both players on a team go missing then there is a 10 min timer before game is called.
If one player returns you can get a sub after 3 min.
12. What to do if a Table is made Incorrectly
- If the table settings are incorrect and there is no posted score, the game is
cancelled and a new table with correct settings will be made.
- If the table settings are incorrect and there is a score posted, the game will
be completed according to the game rules. Example: if the table setting is 2/2/1 for a 2/2/2
game, you will need 2 canastas to go out. If a team goes out without the required 2 canastas
it will be considered a DQ.
13. A disqualification (DQ) is a DQ period.
14. No table talking will be allowed. Please be careful
what you say at the table as it is easy to do this without thinking. For example: In lucky
6s if your partner asks "Out P?" you should not say "only if you can canasta 6s" only a
"YES" or "NO" should be answered to "Out P". If the TD feels you have been table talking
your team will be DQ'd.
15. In Outsiders you will be allowed to play in 4 GAMES
Please use your best judgement when entering games. If the hosting TD sees that you are in
more than 4 GAMES at a time they CAN and WILL remove you from their tournament. If all 5
tourney games are started before the TD notices you are in 5 you will have to forfeit the
win in the last league game, you entered. If the 5th game is a doubles then a sub will be
found and if after the first round you are no longer in 4 other games and your team wins
the 5th game, you may continue play. If admin receive multiple complaints about slow play,
you will be placed on a 1 or 2 Game limit for the rest of the year.
16. INITIAL MELD is the first cards to hit the table on
your first turn to meld. Example: If you're playing 747, the 7s have to be one of the first
cards to hit the table. You can't meld 8s 5s and 10s and then pause and add the 7s. If the
INITIAL MELD is not made properly it will be a disqualification.
17. No one, other than TD or Admin, are allowed to watch
or kibitz at any table except at TD's request.
18. In all Auto Win games, play must stop or auto win is
voided.
19. SHG Messenger: Admin must have SHG messenger on at
all times. Hosting Staff must have messenger on while hosting. This is OPTIONAL FOR members
that are playing TO have their messenger on. So if you are in a game you will need to watch
for pairings in lobby or timer will be put on you after 3 minutes is up. Timer will be from
pair posted in lobby.
20. If more than one member lives in the same household
and want to play in the same doubles tournament only one may sign up on auto team locator.
All other members in the same house must find a partner and sign in as a team.
21. If a member wishes to apply to become a TD, you will
need to have been a League member for at least 10 days and have played at least 20 games.
This may be waivered by an Admin. To fill out an application, please go to
Outsiders TD Application. For more information on hosting:
